About
Hailing from the Montgomery County, MD area just northwest of Washington, DC, my musical journey began with the trombone in grade school. I learned the harp and a number of other instruments in high school, and began my harp instruction under Meredith Mancini in pursuit of a music degree. While completing my degree, I studied under Yolanda Kondonassis at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Oberlin Conservatory.
I am driven to investigate the possibilities of the harp and share them with the world. I am constantly excited and inspired by the breadth and depth of expression the harp affords. While I am familiar with the classical harp repertory, my favorite music projects allow for experimentation and improvisation. I also have a passion for collaborating in small ensembles, as I love to build and play off of the sounds of others.
Throughout my education I've been drawn to the rich and varied traditional music forms from all places. I have been taught by a number of excellent musicians to appreciate and explore these forms, including Dawn Avery, Jamey Haddad, and Amadou Kouyate.
My latest projects include a transcription and arrangement project of some of my favorite videogame and movie music. I am also excited about the possibilities of electroacoustic harp, and work with a growing collection of effects pedals to expand and enhance my sound.
